About the Workshop

This Workshop is organised by EuroBlight - a potato late blight network for Europe. The workshop will take place from 14-17 May 2017 at Hotel Comwell, Aarhus, Denmmark. The local host is Aarhus University, Dept of Agroecology

The main objective of the Workshop is to present and discuss recent results on integrated control of late blight (Phytophthora infestans) and early blight (Alternaria spp.). Specific themes will be:

  • Tracking the potato blight pathogens in a global context - Tools, network infrastructures and activities.
  • Stewardship of host resistance genes and active ingredients. How to develop and adopt innovative and sustainable control strategies on regional scales
  • Education, advocacy and communication activities taking into account different scales and stakeholders  

EuroBlight is organised into four subgroups:

  • Host/pathogen interaction and characteristics
  • Epidemiology and modelling
  • Control strategies
  • Alternaria

Subgroups arrange the subgroup meetings during the workshops, organise harmonised protocols and co-ordinate and integrate research on each topic.

Conference program

Sun 14 May 18.00 registration opens, get-together with light meal 19.00 -21.00. It will be possible to arrange side meetings during the day according to needs.
Mon 15 May Plenary sessions and poster session. City walk and light dinner in the Capital of Culture 2017
Tue 16 May Plenary sessions, poster session and discussions in subgroups. Conference dinner at Hotel Comwell.
Wed 17 May Wrap up from subgroup meetings and discussions in plenum. End with farewell sandwich at 12.30
Wed 17 May Post workshop tour visiting the Danish potato industry - KMC (Starch) and Danespo(Seed) and maybe the LEGO Factory in Billund

You must pay for your own travel to Aarhus and accommodation

We will pay for all meals, coffee, meeting facilities, conference dinner, and the guided citytour.

Accompanying people can participate in all social arrangements - including the guided citytour and the conference dinner at a price of 150€. The payment for accompanying people should be made in cash as Euros at the registration desk.

Maximum numbers of participants: 90

In the case of over-registration, the organizing committee will review participation based on active contributions. This decision will be announced no later than the 7th of February.

Presentations

During the registration process, please specify whether you wish to participate with 1) an oral presentation, 2) a poster or, 3) without any presentation. You should enter the title of your presentation. You will be informed on  1 March whether your contribution has been accepted and allocated to an oral or poster slot.
